Dr. Deresse Mersha was appointed as a Board of Director at the Bank’s 8th Shareholders’ Annual General Meeting held on November 23, 2019.
Qualification/Education History: Dr. Deresse obtained his Ph.D. in Commerce and Management studies (Specialization in Finance) from Adhara University, India in 2016. He obtained his masters of Commerce (Specialization in Accounting) from the same university in 2015. He has another Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Addis Ababa University obtained in 2009. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Accounting from the above university in 2005. In addition, he has attended various short term training programmes, research conferences and seminars within Ethiopia, India and the Netherlands.
Experience: Dr. Deresse Mersha is currently an Associate Professor of Accounting & Finance and has fourteen years of experience at Jimma University. As an academic staff, he has been teaching Accounting and Finance courses both at graduate and undergraduate levels. In addition to his teaching responsibility, he has been conducting various researches in the area of Accounting, Finance & Investment and published more than 27 research papers/articles in national and international journals. Furthermore, he has served as Head of Accounting & Finance Department at Jimma University from 2010-2012. He is currently serving as a Coordinator for Research and Postgraduate studies at Business & Economics College, Jimma University since 2017.
